What Do IPv4/IPv6, DNS and WebRTC Tests Tell You?

A connected icon does not answer every routing question. Your web request, DNS resolution and WebRTC candidates are separate paths. Tests provide evidence about a particular request, not a complete guarantee for every app.

Content updated:

Public IP: which exit does a website see?

A public-IP service reports the address from which it receives your browser request. Compare before and after connecting. Country and city are database estimates, not GPS. The Yunbao IP page also looks up a specified public address.

IPv4/IPv6: check each protocol separately

A dual-stack network may use both protocols. Query IPv4-only and IPv6-only endpoints, then compare each protocol before and after connecting. Different address strings are expected. An IPv6 request failure may reflect network or service reachability, not proof that IPv6 is absent.

DNS: which resolvers handle a name lookup?

DNS maps names to addresses. Resolver tests usually create unique test names and observe incoming queries at an authoritative DNS service. Calling a fixed public DNS API does not identify the resolver your browser normally uses. A public resolver or encrypted browser DNS is not automatically a leak.

WebRTC: which connection candidates are visible?

WebRTC gathers candidates for real-time communication, potentially through local interfaces and STUN. A candidate-only test needs no camera or microphone. Host, mDNS, server-reflexive and relay candidates have different meanings. Missing public candidates is not a security guarantee; an address alone is not enough to declare a leak.

Use results to investigate a connection

Record a baseline before connecting, select the appropriate mode and repeat each test. Report time, mode, route, network type and results if needed. Yunbao offers IP lookup, IPv4/IPv6 comparison and WebRTC candidate detection. DNS testing still requires its query service and does not yet provide pass or leak verdicts.
