Missing Android VPN Notification? Check Permission and Connection Separately

A missing notification can look like a disconnect. Notification visibility alone does not establish whether the VPN tunnel works.

Distinguish notification from service

Android 13 and later have a runtime permission for non-exempt notifications. The official guide notes that denied foreground-service notices remain in Task Manager but not the notification drawer. Neither presence nor absence proves website connectivity.

Preserve the state before checking

  1. Record device, Android version, disappearance time and recent notification or software changes.
  2. Inspect the VPN app notification permission and categories in system app settings; labels vary. Do not clear app data for this test.
  3. Compare the app status with the active app in system VPN settings.
  4. On one fixed network and route open a trusted small page, recording notification, app state and the result separately. Mask account information in screenshots.
  5. Allow notifications if desired and observe again. If connectivity also fails, investigate disconnects separately; a permission switch is not a guaranteed fix.

Keep conclusions limited

These are general Android behaviors, not proof of Yunbao service implementation on every version. Avoid disabling protections or installing unknown keep-alive tools; report version and time to support.
