Old Windows Proxy Script After VPN Changes? Review PAC Settings

When apps report proxy-server errors, check for an old Windows setup script as well as the VPN. A script URL is not a VPN server address.

Distinguish proxy setup methods

Microsoft documents automatic detection, a setup script and manual proxy details. A script needs the appropriate address, often from the organization; its URL is not a VPN profile value. Avoid unknown PAC URLs or removing organizational policy.

Preserve settings and identify their owner

  1. Record the error, app and network without exposing token-bearing script URLs.
  2. Inspect Windows Network & internet, Proxy, separating automatic detection, setup script and manual settings. Record original values and their source.
  3. For managed PCs or unknown settings contact IT; do not bypass locked controls.
  4. Only on your unmanaged device, when an old script is confirmed unnecessary, preserve it and temporarily disable that script for one same-URL comparison, keeping other settings and the route fixed.
  5. Restore required settings. If failure follows the script, contact its provider; otherwise inspect other layers instead of resetting every network control.

Keep the diagnosis specific

A page recovering without the script identifies an app-path clue, not every program’s route. Do not guess script protocols, ports or backend node parameters. This guide does not establish Yunbao’s proxy mode; follow client and administrator guidance.
