Establish each counter’s scope
Microsoft provides data-usage and limit controls. OS network totals are not a carrier bill or a VPN billing definition. Background updates, sync and retries can affect comparison; the total is not exclusively one download.
Preserve records before comparing
- Capture both screens with time range, units, network and refresh time, hiding account details. Do not immediately reset history.
- Find Data usage in Windows Network & internet and check the selected Wi-Fi or Ethernet; use Settings search when paths differ.
- Pause unnecessary large jobs, keep the route fixed and compare the increment for one trusted small transfer rather than totals from different dates.
- Do not simply add multiple adapter totals into a bill. Record adapter names and increments for support to interpret.
- For cost concerns set reminders or limits for your actual plan and check carrier usage. A Windows limit does not guarantee server-side billing has stopped.
What to report to support
Report time, Windows version, network type, units and increments without passwords or browsing history. Align periods before retesting. No protocol-overhead measurement or Yunbao counter and billing feature is invented.
